Lankwitzer serves as the supplier of environment-friendly water-based coatings for the Astana Light Rail project, the first of Central Asia. The Astana Light Rail is constructed by CRRC Tangshan Co., Ltd., and the first vehicle witnessed a video inspection by Kazakhstan Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov on April 10.
Astana Light Rail is seen as the first urban light rail line in Central Asia, an important carrier of in-depth cooperation between China and Kazakhstan in the field of rail transit equipment, a representative project of both countries to jointly carry out "the Belt and Road Initiative", and a bearer of the ardent expectations of the two peoples.
Lankwitzer worked with CRRC Tangshan to provide a customized water-based coating solution for the project and consider the local operating environment and line conditions of Astana, in a bid to meet the vehicle coating performance requirements in the local operating environment.
The Astana Light Rail sees a total length of 22.4 kilometers, with all 19 vehicles adorned with Lankwitzer water-based coatings of low emission thanks to the zero formaldehyde and low VOC characteristics. The effort met Kazakhstan's stringent requirements for green transportation, and, more importantly, the overall coating appearance of these vehicles features vibrant colors, watery surface and mirror-like brightness.
Lankwitzer water-based coating graces a mirror effect of the vehicle appearance, features stellar performance in mechanical properties, weather resistance and aging resistance, and withstands various environmental issues during subway operation.
The Astana Light Rail runs through core landmarks in the capital of Kazakhstan, such as Nursultan International Airport, Nazarbayev University, and the Presidential Palace, and its enduring beauty and environment characteristic are directly linked with the global image of "Chinese standards"
This cooperation saw Lankwitzer water-based coating obtain high praise from CRRC Tangshan thanks to its excellent performance, and the autumn of 2025 will embrace the delivery of the first batch of Astana Project vehicles, which will become the green credential of "the Belt and Road Initiative" jointly built by China and Kazakhstan.
